2025 ICB Auction Item Descriptions

Below, please find descriptions for all of the items up for bid in the 2025 Illinois Council of the Blind (ICB) Virtual Auction. The auction will take place on Sunday, October 19, 2025 starting at 6 p.m. central time. If you plan on participating, we ask that you please register here (opens in a new tab).

Please if you are going to register and bid, be sure you are able to pay for the items you choose to bid on. If we are unable to get payment from you, we will move onto the second highest bidder.

Descriptions

1. 1926 Model T Ford Car Coin Bank.

This all-sturdy metal bank is great for holding any type of coins. The dimensions are 6 inches long, 2.5 inches in width and 3.5 inches high (to the top of the roof). The vehicle is golden. The tire rims are silver with black spokes. Fun features: The vehicle wheels spin when given a push. Vehicle features can be distinguished by touch. Some examples include: windows, doors, headlights, running boards and more. The bank has one working key. The bottom of the car bank has both the working key lock and a slot to slide coins inside. 4. A Silver Pendant Magnifier on an Interwoven Chain.

5. Flapple Apple Slicer & Corer, with Bamboo Cutting Board.

6. Collapsible Storage Bowl Set.

7. A Blue Cloisonne Pendant.

(Cloisonne, referred to as ornamental work in which glass, enamel, and/or gemstones, are split into strips of compressed wire which then become placed edgeways on a metal backings). 8. 40oz Tumbler.

11. Floral Pattern Maille Necklace.

Square edged bronze and colored niobium rings create a floral pattern. Beads are iridescent glass created by artist Stuart Abelman, who has made many products, not just jewelry as a glass artist for over 40 years. Donated by Caroline Keem, friend of Tim Paul – Minimum Bid: $75.00

12. Ladies Black Soft Leather Wallet.

It measures 8 inches X ¾ inches and has Velcro closures for each compartment. It has three separate coin pockets, four compartments for bills, ten spaces for credit cards, identification cards, check books and more. Donated by Maureen Heneghan – Minimum Bid: $30.00

13. Hoodie from Blind Girl Designs.

Berry Color. Three Whimsical Fall foliage trees with white cane trunks. The first tree has an oval shape and beautiful yellow leaves with brown branches. The second tree is fiery red leaves again with of course, brown branches sprouting from the white cane, and the last tree is also oval, but a little bit wider, and it is that beautiful orange color that we see only during the fall season. 14. A Buzz Clip.

The Buzz Clip is used in navigation purposes. It is a sender and receiver of ultrasonic sound waves. It can detect objects in front of you. It will vibrate in your hand to let you know there is an object in front of you. If held at waist level, it would detect objects from your knees to over your head. There are only two buttons on the device. One is the power button, the second button is the mode button. You can use the mode button to adjust the signal from 1 ½ feet to up to 20 feet in front of you. You can hold the device in your hand, or you can clip it onto your blind white cane, then you can be hands free and still detect objects in front of you. 16. An Antique Hole Punch & an Antique Bates 88P Hand-Grip Stapler.

The hole punch was used in early 1950s by a train conductor to stamp passenger tickets. Both are in excellent condition. Donated by Sharon Howerton – Minimum Bid: $50.00

18. A Bracelet for Every Season.

Each bracelet made by our ICB office manager, Maggie Mogged. Four bracelets (Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Spring Bracelet: Turquoise clear and sparkle beads with a white clear bead, with three unique white spring poke-a-dotted bead; Summer Bracelet: Shimmering Pink and clear pink beads with two unique pink flowered beads. 19. A Colorino.

A hand-held device with two buttons. You can hold the device up to anything and press the button, and it will tell you what color the object is. The device has over 180 color schemes. The second button on the device is a light detector. Donated by Terry Heltsley  – Minimum Bid: $225.00

20. Illinois Council of the Blind (ICB) Gift Basket.

Includes: ICB T-Shirt, Insulated Bottle Carrier, ICB Cooler Bag, and an ICB Cookbook (format of your choice-Braille, Large Print or Email). This CD is from singer/songwriter/musician, Jennie Emery, who is an ICB member. It contains twelve songs. These original songs written by Jennie include Let There Be Light, Tell Me Who I Am, and the title track, Leading You Home. Other songs you might recognize include, When I’m Back on My Feet Again, We Shall Be Free, and Love in Any Language. In choosing the songs for this CD Jennie wanted to communicate ideas of awareness, spirituality, peace and harmony. Donated by Jennie Emery – Minimum Bid: $20.00

The anniversary was celebrated by Major League Baseball in 1994. On the baseball are: 125th Anniversary Baseball Patch, National Museum of American History and the Emblem of the Milwaukee Brewers from the 1990s which is different from the current emblem. 49. Scott Roland Bobble Head.

Scott Roland, who played Third Base for the St. Louis Cardinals is well depicted in this approximately six inch high bobble head. Roland, who was nicknamed “The Big Cat,” played for the Cardinals from 2002-2008 and is in the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. He helped the Cardinals win the World Series in 2006, and was known for his exceptional defense and strong leadership.
