How You Can Help
Funds are needed: to produce and distribute The Illinois Braille Messenger, maintain a central office, to support the braille production service, advocate with the Illinois Legislature and other Governmental agencies so they understand how people who are blind or visually impaired are affected by a number of issues,
finance the annual convention and the meetings of the Board of Directors, participate in the work of the American Council of the Blind, and carry
out various programs to meet our objectives.
However, there are several ways you can help the visually impaired persons
in Illinois.
- Learn more about blindness by becoming acquainted with blind people
in your area.
- Learn more about the Illinois Council of the Blind.
- Support endeavors to improve the education and economic, social and cultural
status of the visually impaired of Illinois.
- Support us financially by direct contribution or bequest. The Illinois Council of the Blind is a 501(c)(3) organization under the United States Internal Revenue code. If you live in Central Illinois around Springfield, you may be contacted by our fundraising partner, "Vision Quest," twice per year and asked to purchase tickets for concerts staged in Springfield to support us. If you live in the Chicago, Illinois metropolitan area, you may see advertisements of our Vehicle Donation Program. Any financial support you can provide is greatly appreciated.
- Join us. We would welcome you. Contact us for information on how you can become a member of the Illinois Council of the Blind.
